| | From Dad's blog : Jenny ran 2.5 with Sarah. A.M-2We decided if Jenny met him at 0.5 and raced him for a quarter he would certainly make it to 0.75, and then he can smell the barn and kickYesterday with Jenny waiting for him at 1200 (0.75) he quit at 800 (0.5) while right on paceWe bring Jenny to 800, and now he quits at 600I asked him why, and he admitted that he realizes he would not quit while racing Jenny, and if he hits 1200 on pace he would not quit at all, and he just cannot handle itSo to make a dent in his mental block I told him to try again and this time run (given the fatigue from the previous to tries) run as slow as he felt he would need to up to 800, then race Jenny to 1200So he did 1:35, 1:49, 1:31 - 4:55 racing Jenny | Add Comment |

| | From Dad's blog : Benjamin ran to 600 just with me, then Julia ran 200, Jenny joined us at 800, Julia bailed about 30 meters later (she was only supposed to go 100, everything extra was a bonus)Around 900 (3:21, 22.5) fresh Jenny started to gap himI told him afterwards that the correct way to handle the error was to keep on pushing, reel Jenny in as she would not have continued at 6:00 pace for much longer herself, then use the thrill of passing to hit the mile in 6:03 or so, which would have been a 4 second PRJenny was rewarded with a quarter PR of 92.5Thus Julia ended up with 1.5 for the day, and Jenny did a total 4 as she ran 2.5 with Sarah earlier | Add Comment |
